The Brief
Seckford Hall is an elegant Tudor luxury hotel with spa and leisure facilities situated in the small rural village of Great Bealings, near Woodbridge in East Suffolk.
The existing spa, which is situated in the grounds of the hotel, was closed at the beginning of 2015 to be extended and refurbished to offer guests and the local community an array of new spa and beauty services. The extension included converting the first floor into a series of single and double treatment rooms and installing new changing rooms, a gym, hot tub, steam room, sauna and café lounge on the ground floor, with the existing swimming pool keeping its centre stage position beneath a breath-taking 200-year old high level beamed roof.
IQ Fire Solutions were approached in January 2015 by the project’s electrical contractors Greenfuture Energy to design, install & commission a fire detection system for the new spa. The design used an Advanced addressable fire alarm panel with Apollo protocol to cover the main areas with the roof above the pool being protected using a Fire Beam.
The Team
A team of three installation engineers and one commissioning engineer.
Our Response
The fire alarm installation began towards the end of April 2015 and whilst initially the client was hoping for a fast turnaround, it was explained that due to the age and intricacies of the building, more time than usual had been allowed for the installation.
The Results
The project was successfully completed within two months and the hotel’s new spa and leisure facilities opened at the end of June 2015.
