A derelict Durham hotel has been left in ruins after a huge fire ripped through the building on the evening of Sunday 13th September.
Emergency services were called to the Harbour View Hotel at around 10pm and an investigation is now under way. It took around 40 firefighters to tackle the enormous blaze, which had engulfed the three story building. Nearby properties had to evacuate to a safe distance as firefighters tried to stop the intense blaze from spreading. The fire was so severe that it caused the back of the hotel to collapse onto the surrounding roads and pavement, but luckily no one was injured.
Mr Bruce, of the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said that the hotel had been left “completely gutted by the fire.” The surrounding roads and pavement remain closed to ensure public safety while the investigation is ongoing.
